Catherine Wilson and ESAF Present: Music and Poetry Workshop

  • Scottish Storytelling Centre 43-45 High Street Edinburgh, Scotland, EH1 1SR United Kingdom (map)

Are you a musician or writer? Want to do something new with your work? Want to meet new artists and create collaborations?

For the first time, local poet and organiser Catherine Wilson - Loud Poet will be leading a workshop on how to blend the two art-forms and help you make a brand new piece, with the help of Loud Poets own band: Ekobirds! Catherine Wilson is one of the organisers of Loud Poets: a collective that stage monthly nights of poetry and music!

Just bring a pen and paper, or your trusty instrument and you'll get some handy tips on writing and rhythm and how to perform your words! Musicians will learn how to perform something beautiful that doesn't distract from the words.

This three hour workshop will introduce you to the following:
- some tips on writing and getting over writer's block!
- a beginner's guide to performance, memorisation and comfort onstage
- an introduction on how to write music that blends with poetry
- some pointers for performing with musical accompaniment
- and an oppurtunity to collaborate writing with a live band and create something new!

£3 suggested donation (to pay the band), but free entry!
